GREEN PRACTICES

GREEN PRACTISES
We’re trying our best to stay as plastic-free and sustainable as possible. Not perfect, not zero-waste, just genuinely trying. But being green comes with its own challenges, and we really appreciate your support (and patience) for the little inconveniences that come with it. Below, we’ve spelled out the bits that get challenging, and where your support makes a real difference.

OUR PACKAGING
Our smoking blends come in reusable tins. Our herbs and teas are packed in glass jars or home-compostable bags. These materials cost significantly more than plastic, which is one reason most brands still rely on it. We’d rather avoid it wherever we can.
That said, packaging dried herbs sustainably isn’t always simple. Herbs need protection from moisture and air, and plastic is often the easiest way to achieve that. Finding alternatives that work well is still an ongoing process for us. Compostable bags also don’t artificially extend shelf life the way plastic does, so we recommend that you transfer herbs into a jar at home for longer storage. For us, sustainability isn’t a side note. It’s part of the blueprint. And we hope that’s the kind of thing you care about too.
OUR SHIPPING
We ship using recycled boxes, reused cardboard and whatever materials deserve a second life. Any bubble wrap or thermocol you find in the box was rescued from older packaging and reused. Your package may not make a great unboxing reel — no butter paper, no ribbons, sometimes even a box from another brand. That’s intentional. We’d rather make less waste than pretty garbage.

We’re always experimenting - hand painted cloth signage, paper tapes and small steps that add up. So if you spot something smart, make something green, or have an idea we should steal (politely), please get in touch at langoorshop@gmail.com
OUR HERBS
Our products are plant-based and minimally processed. The plants we use are either grown naturally without harmful fertilisers or pesticides, or carefully foraged from nearby community forests in small quantities using techniques and knowledge that have developed over generations.
After harvesting, the herbs are dried naturally under the crisp Himalayan sun and clean mountain air. They are then cut using simple mechanical equipment rather than large automated machines. Much of this work is done patiently by village families practising small-scale subsistence farming.

Because no chemical treatments are used, very occasionally a tiny insect may find its way into a pack. It isn’t ideal, but it is also a reminder that these herbs are grown and gathered without chemical intervention. If you ever receive a pack like this, we will happily replace it right away. Thank you for your understanding.
